Virginia Regenerative Medicine & Spa: Providing Cutting-Edge, Non-Invasive Concierge Care

Virginia Regenerative Medicine & Spa offers a variety of anti-aging treatments, including growth factor therapy, autologous ortho biologics, nutritional supplements, and non-surgical options for sexual optimization, hair loss, skin tightening, scar revision, wrinkle reduction, acne, and hyperpigmentation.

Some of its integrative therapies include laser, microneedling with exosomes, enzyme/peptide advanced skin revision, medical-grade skincare, injectables/toxins, and Ultherapy. These treatments can help improve skin health, tone, and texture by promoting the body's natural ability to repair and rebuild.

One of the biggest contributors to the company’s success is its team of experienced professionals. It is led by Dr. Michael Poss, MD, OWNER double boardcertified in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management with over 25 years of experience in treating painful orthopedic conditions.

In addition to its anti-aging solutions, Virginia Regenerative Medicine & Spa specializes in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). It helps improve symptoms of menopause and andropause, like hot flashes, night sweats, loss of libido, and vaginal dryness. The therapy is also beneficial to improve mood, energy levels, bone loss, metabolic rate, muscle mass, sleep quality, and brain fog.

Patient Satisfaction: The Top Priority Before opening Virginia Regenerative Medicine, Dr. Poss’s wife, Jeanne, suffered from a rotator cuff tear. Oral medications, physical therapy, and steroid injections were not helping. But she was not willing to undergo any surgery. Dr. Poss used a combination of ortho biologics and EPAT treatments to help his wife. Shortly after, their son suffered from lacrosse-related injuries in college. Dr. Poss successfully treated him. This served to be an inspiration for him to treat other family members for injuries that typically would have required surgical intervention for recovery and to establish a practice that can offer people an alternative path to healing.

In 2018, Virginia Regenerative Medicine & Spa was established and soon became a thriving practice. Dr. Poss was able to help many people recover from their injuries without surgery. He also helped people improve their overall health and well-being. Today, Dr. Poss is passionate about helping his patients achieve their health and wellness goals working alongside his wife, Jeanne, and his daughter, Emily.

Jeanne's training is replete with multiple honors and awards for excellence in her field. She is currently furthering her education in health sciences and registered nursing. She has been a practicing yogi for years and loves to share her knowledge with others. Her goal is to make you look as beautiful on the outside as you feel on the inside.

Emily, on the other hand, is a licensed master aesthetician specializing in skin revision. Her desire to continually educate herself further has yielded an expert level of knowledge in skincare ingredients and skin function. She holds dozens of advanced aesthetic education certificates in skin, skincare, treatment safety, modalities, and ingredient knowledge. She has invested thousands of hours in continuing education, hands-on training, and certifications.

MEET: VIRGINIA REGENERATIVE MEDICINE & SPA

The Scout Guide Hunt Country

As summer nears and we begin to spend more time in the sun, it is vital for us to start caring for our skin now to keep it protected, renewed, and rejuvenated. For skincare advice, we’ve turned to new Vol. 8 member Virginia Regenerative Medicine & Spa for their expert recommendations.

The idea of Virginia Regenerative was first conceived after co-owners Dr. Michael and Jeanne Poss started using regenerative medicine practices on their own family members. Seeing remarkable results, the duo was determined to share their practices with the greater community and opened their business in historic downtown Marshall just two short years ago. After purchasing a historic residence on Main Street, the team remodeled the space themselves and transformed it into a tranquil getaway for their clients.

Dr. Poss, a graduate of Wake Forest University, is board certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain management, having served as the past president of the Virginia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is also listed as one of the “150 Pain Management Physicians to Know” by Becker’s ASC Review, among many other notable accomplishments. Jeanne is a certified SkinPen specialist and trainer, Ultherapist, yoga and meditation teacher who completed her training in yoga and meditation at Duke Integrative Medicine and The Ananda School of Meditation and Yoga. Her mission has always been to share her knowledge and help her clients feel as healthy and beautiful on the outside as they do on the inside.

Jeanne is very proud of her transformation, shown here prior to and after using her own treatments.

Virginia Regenerative specializes in a range of services, from aesthetics to orthopedics, as well as spa services, including Swedish and deep tissue massages and infrared sauna treatments. Now that they have reopened to limited hours and are accepting patient visits, we can’t wait to schedule our own long-overdue appointment. Most recently, the spa has expanded their regenerative technology into their aesthetic practices.

“WE BELIEVE IN HELPING PEOPLE LIVE THEIR BEST LIFE, FEELING GOOD FROM THE INSIDE OUT.” -JEANNE POSS, CO-FOUNDER

A deep tissue massage is definitely in order this spring.

Intrigued by this expansion of regenerative technology, we asked Jeanne to tell us more about this practice in their aesthetic services. “Utilizing exosomes, the very same tiny messenger vesicles that aid in the repair of injuries, we applied them to our microneedling procedure coupled with other anti-aging procedures, with incredible results,” she explains.

Jeanne also shared some helpful advice for future and regular clients. It seems that like any other daily self-care practice, it is important to check in with your skin and problem areas as frequently as possible. “When it comes to the aesthetic side of our practice, we’ve found that custom designing your care plan is essential to meeting your goals. Layering different services is the secret to natural and lasting results,” Jeanne shares.

Virginia Regenerative’s infrared Sunlighten sauna might be one of our favorite treatments.

The spa’s team loves supporting their fellow local Marshall businesses. You can catch them grabbing lunch or dinner at one of their many favorite spots, including Johnny Monarch’s, Red Truck Bakery, Field & Main, or The Whole Ox. They also frequent Dan Moore’s The Drawing Room at 8393 and some of Hunt Country’s favorite vineyards. Call their office to schedule your appointment!

Middleburg Life - Made to Feel Whole

Kristen O’Donnell of Lake Tahoe, Nevada has worked as a lifestyle and fashion model for the past 35 years. Her connection to Virginia Regenerative Medicine & Spa in Marshall is both a long story and a brief one. The short of it is this: the little town of Marshall is where she found healing, and in some ways, the place where she found herself again.

“I’m 49 years old and everything is changing,” she said. “I’ve had a couple bouts of breast cancer in the last five years. I had radiation last fall and had to have a hysterectomy, plus the multitude of surgeries. Every time I go under anesthesia, my whole-body changes. I have a different circadian rhythm and a different appetite. I don’t eat red meat or dairy, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, [but it still] really takes an effect on your appearance.”

As a model, letting herself go is not an option. She is particular about her skin and what she puts on her body. Her aunt recommended Virginia Regenerative Medicine & Spa for a microneedling treatment, and O’Donnell flew to Virginia to give it a try. “Next thing I know I’m getting the most amazing treatments I’ve ever experienced,” she said. “I was coming in for a microneedling facial with Exosomes, but it turned into everyone on-board-take-care-of-Kristen day. I had a little massage, I was listening to my favorite music, I was in this super comfortable chair, with people nurturing me and making me feel so special.”

She had a scar under her arm from a previous surgery to remove a tumor. Even though the surgery had occurred almost a year before, the scar was still quite red, and O’Donnell could still feel the scar tissue under her arm. The team at Virginia Regenerative Medicine used acoustic wave therapy and microneedling on her scar. After the treatment, the scar faded and became smoother. She was amazed that the microneedling results were immediate. “Even though it’s still a medical facility, I didn’t feel like a patient. I felt like a human being again. It was really amazing,” she said. “Any time someone nurtures you or is kind to you, it really changes you. I walked out of there with a lot more confidence.”

“When we have breast cancer survivors come in, we don’t charge for those scar treatments,” said Jeanne Poss, co-owner of Virginia Regenerative Medicine. “That’s just our way of giving back.” The local business is partnering with the Tigerlily Foundation, a national breast cancer foundation offering education, awareness, and advocacy to women aged 15 to 45 who are walking through a breast cancer diagnosis.

The Tigerlily Foundation was a result of Maimah Karmo, the founder and CEO, being a breast cancer survivor herself. During her own breast cancer battle, she made a promise to God that if she survived, she would start an organization to help and empower other women fighting breast cancer. She wants to help women recognize their strength, just like tigers and lilies.

Virginia Regenerative Medicine is donating spa packages to survivors and their caretakers through the Tigerlily Foundation.Virginia Regenerative Medicine is truly a family-run business. Dr. Michael Poss and his wife Jeanne Poss own the business, and their two daughters Alexandra Entner and Emily Albert work alongside them. Their massage therapist Kari Adams, who is like a daughter to them, was recently certified in massage for oncology, specifically for breast and prostate cancer.

Dr. Poss is board certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain management. With more than 20 years of experience in treating pain, he was listed by Becker’s ASC Review as one of the “150 Pain Management Physicians to Know.” Jeanne Poss is a certified SkinPen specialist and trainer, ultherapist, yoga and meditation teacher.

“We have both an aesthetic focus and an orthopedic focus and lots of different options to enhance a person’s quality of life and ability to function,” said Dr. Michael Poss. “I’ve never seen such awesome outcomes in any other practice. The fact that we can do it in a very small, boutique setting in our hometown, and work with our family has been the most rewarding part of my career.”

The aesthetic portion of the business helps with skin tightening, cellulite treatment, spider vein treatment, lip and dermal fillers, amongst many other things. The orthopedic portion helps improve athletic injuries and degenerative pain conditions.

Virginia Regenerative Medicine has a warm and inviting interior and an exterior that looks more like a home than a medical facility. The Poss family intentionally designed the space to feel cozy. “When people walk in, the first thing they say is that they can feel the energy and it feels good in here,” said Jeanne, “It’s not a scary thing. We’ve tried to make it where when you come in, you feel like family.”

While they have plenty of local regulars, they also have regulars who travel from across the country, everywhere from California to New York to Texas.
“We are very honored to be in the community,” she added “Our office is about quality, not quantity. It’s not about the numbers, it’s about treating people as a whole person.” ML

Fauquier Times - Virginia Regenerative Medicine and Spa opens in Marshall

An open house was held in June celebrating the opening of Virginia Regenerative Medicine and Spa. Marshall District Supervisor Mary Leigh McDaniel (pictured center left) was on hand to meet the new owners. Here she congratulates co-owner Jeanne Poss. Friends and family gathered in support.

From the outside, Virginia Regenerative Medicine and Spa looks like a lovely, private home. But looks can be deceiving.

Step inside and you’ll discover it’s a place that aims to make transformative things happen on a medical and aesthetic level, all tailored to help people look and feel better.

The homelike ambiance is missing the white, sterile environment of a clinic. Soothing tones of gray and white adorn the walls. Furniture is modern, comfortable and inviting. It’s all by design to create an alluring experience for customers.

Their lines of treatment are said to use cutting-edge technologies that you won’t find everywhere but used to help their clients achieve optimal results.

Co-owner Dr. Michael Poss has more than 20 years of experience as an anesthesiologist, practicing at the Virginia Brain and Spine Center as well as having an affiliation with Winchester Medical Center. A 1993 graduate of Wake Forest School of Medicine, with residency at University Hospital, he specializes in pain medicine and has training and experience in regenerative medicine.

Suffering from achy knee joints but fearful of going under the knife? A consultation with Poss could result in a recommendation for an alternative kind of treatment, such as stem cell therapy. It’s aim is to repair degenerative knee cartilage and partially torn tendons to provide pain relief when perhaps traditional treatments have proven unsuccessful.

Poss, along with his wife Jeanne, and other members of the staff, are trained and certified to provide treatments for degenerative conditions, arthritis and muscle and tendon injuries. Aesthetic treatments are available including “microneedling” with PRP or exosomes; various types of massage; non-surgical facelifts with “Ultherapy,” a brand of skin treatment using ultrasound; yoga, meditation, infrared sauna, hair restoration and treatments for cellulite and sexual optimization.

An open house this past June included family, friends, fellow Fauquier Chamber of Commerce members and others curious about the services the new Marshall facility offers.

Jeanne Poss, who said she has benefited from her husband’s stem cell therapy treatments on her shoulder, shared her success story. “It has worked for me…and our son…and we made a decision that this should be shared with a wider audience.”

Dr. Poss welcomed everyone who came, making time to give an extra smile to several of his grandchildren. They appeared delighted that they had a large home to roam and discover rooms that serve medical and aesthetic purposes.

Model, actress and designer Christie Brinkley, 64, is an Ultherapy advocate. Brinkley is featured on some of its promotional materials, touting the non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that aims to improve lines and wrinkles on the neck and upper chest. Ultherapy uses ultrasound to go below the skin’s surface to boost collagen.

While once considered more appealing to women, the goal of more youthful-looking skin is universal, said Jess Kuhl, a territory manager for Merz Aesthetics, a supplier of many of the products used at Virginia Regenerative Medicine and Spa.

For Kuhl, maintaining a competitive edge as a career professional is important and looks has a lot to do with that.

“It used to be predominantly women who were interested…but we’ve been seeing more and more men use this treatment,” said Kuhl adding, “There’s no downtime…you can have it done on your lunch break and return to work and carry on with your schedule…and the results are noticeable pretty quickly.”

Kuhl said he was impressed with the facility itself. “This is really a model,” said Kuhl “They’ve done everything right here with the soothing colors, the private rooms, the warm ambiance…that’s what people are looking for.”

“Business has been good,” said Jeanne Poss. “We’ve doubled the number of calls that we received since opening.”

Prices vary for the different treatments but as one commented at the open house, “I guess it depends on what you’re willing to pay to look and feel better about yourself…what’s the price for that.”

Middleburg Life - Relax & Rejuvenate!

In the quaint town of Marshall, an exciting new spa has taken up residence. Located right on Main Street, Virginia Regenerative Medicine and Spa just had their grand opening. Inside the fully renovated, traditional 1910 house, you’ll find a peaceful and serene environment. The spa offers a multitude of services including massage therapy, IV therapy, PRP/PRFM therapy, hair restorative services, yoga and meditation, just to name a few. There are four beautiful treatment rooms, two on the main floor and two upstairs, as well as an infrared spa. The spa offers revolutionary treatments with benefits that are unparalleled.

The three premier services offered here are Ultherapy, a nonsurgical face-lift procedure; Cellfina, a revolutionary process that treats the appearance of cellulite by targeting the primary structure of cellulite and removing it; and microneedling. Jeanne Poss, owner-operator, along with her daughter Alex Entner, co-owner, are certified reps in these services. For Poss, offering these treatments was so important because she herself had experienced such amazing results, as did her family. Entner was actually able to avoid having an invasive wrist surgery by receiving an injection which was a mixture of PRP and exosomes (vesicles secreted by cell types already in the body).

During a microneedling session, using exosomes, the “skin pen” is used to deliver astonishing results within just 30 minutes to an hour. One of the best things about this procedure, other than looking fabulous and fresh, is that there is no significant down time and no bandaging. Upon trying the procedure herself for the first time, Poss was absolutely amazed with her results. “Wait until you see these pictures,” Jeanne said. “You won’t believe it.” She showed me two photos, a before and after of herself, and I was immediately taken aback. The difference in the two images was astonishing. It was as if she had turned back time.

Poss’s husband, and co-owner of the spa, Dr. Michael Poss, is board certified in
anesthesiology and interventional pain management. He currently practices in Winchester, Virginia. Michael started getting into regenerative medicine to offer a different and unique experience to his clients. Jeanne would sit in on his training and offer to be his model for the procedures. She couldn’t believe the transformation and thought, “We have to share this with people.” And so with that purpose in mind, Jeanne and her husband set out to start their new adventure, and Virginia Regenerative Medicine and Spa was born.

Everyone at the spa is certified and experts in their field. Not only are they knowledgeable in their craft, they are all friendly and pleasant, providing their clients with a warm and comfortable environment while they receive their treatments.

In addition to providing amazing, life-changing procedures to clients, VRMS also gives back to the
community by supporting organizations such as Loudoun Lyme. The annual 5k/10k/1k Fun Run raises funds and awareness towards finding a cure for Lyme’s Disease. This year VRMS was a presenting sponsor for the event.

Whether you’re looking for a gentle re-charge with a private yoga session or a transformative procedure such as Ultherapy or microneedling, Virginia Regenerative Medicine and Spa has something for everyone. ML
